Youth Court is an alternative sentencing program for first-time offenders who are charged with Minor in Possession of Tobacco or Minor in Consumption of Alcohol tickets. Juveniles come to Youth Court where area high school students, who are trained as jury members, attorneys, court clerks and bailiffs, sentence their peers. These student volunteers go through training to learn their roles. It is an excellent way for them to learn about the court system and to get involved in their community.
If you are interested in participating in Youth Court, please contact the Youth Court Director, at 870-4783 or via email at youthcourt@hotmail.com. This program serves the Third Judicial District in Idaho which is comprised of Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette, Washington and Adams counties. Youth Court is currently operating in Canyon and Gem counties.
